Hikes:

  • Champlain: One of our favorites right by Bar Harbor. Orange and Black or Beachcroft Path are good trails up (45 min to 1 hour up)

  • Precipice on Champlain is an awesome ladder trail if open (1 hour up)

  • Pemetic: on other side of island but one of my favorites and very interesting trails (love the north ridge) (45 min to 1 hour up)

  • Sargent and Penobscot: can do together easily and a favorite hike. Has a pond to swim in part way. Can end at Jordan Pond House for popovers (2-4 hours)

  • Dorr: ladder trail, Kirk detrick, and Homan’s Path are great trails up. Can easily connect over to Cadillac as well (2-3 hours)

  • Great Head: gorgeous walk out along the water and look back at sand beach (45 min to 1 hour)

  • Gorham: a favorite mountain that’s not too long of a hike and has amazing views of sand beach (45 min to 1 hour)

  • Beehive: way over crowded but really cool ladder trail (not for someone afraid of heights) (can be crowded and backed up on trail)

  • Cadillac: highest mountain on the island. Can drive up with reservation but there are some fun hikes. First place of sunrise in US

  • Acadia: on the other side of island and a really great and pretty hike

  • Jordan Pond Walk: beautiful loop around pond and can connect to hikes (3.3. miles around)
